NBA 2K16 Kicks: The “Almost There” Air Jordan 6 Maroon

NBA 2K16_20151201103252

December is starting out hot and fast with the release of the Air Jordan 6 Maroon and possibly a black version of the adidas Yeezy Boost 750. We don’t know about the Yeezy for sure, but with retailers already in possession of the shoes, it’s a safe bet sneakerheads who can spare $220 (yikes) will be copping them on Saturday.

In this edition of NBA 2K16 Kicks, we try to bring the Maroon 6 into the game and thanks to the sneakers’ simple color palette of off-white and uh, maroon, the results are some of the better ones we’ve had since we started doing this feature. It’s far from perfect; the obvious flaw is the lack of “Nike Air” branding on the heel and the heel tab not really looking all that right, but all things considered and especially compared to our sad attempt to get the Aqua 8 in the game, this is a pretty good representation of the upcoming retro release.

Check out the images below and make your own in-game version of these retros and don’t forget to check out the Air Jordan 6 Maroon launch page for more information as we get closer to release day.

Police Are Investigating A Cowboys Security Guard For Choking A Panthers Fan

Subscribe to UPROXX

Police in Arlington, Texas are reportedly looking into an incident between a security guard and a fan that occurred in AT&T Stadium during the Thanksgiving contest between Dallas and the Carolina Panthers, according to TMZ.

The video, recorded by other fans in the same section, shows a Panthers fan being restrained by security guards as he was being escorted out, while one guard put the fan in a headlock and took him to the ground while other onlookers tried to loosen his grip. The fan appeared to be passed out at one point before coming to and exchanging words with the guards as he was being brought out of the section of the stadium.

There’s not enough context to know exactly what was going on from the videos that have been released, but for his part, the fan, named John Small, has filed a police report, via TMZ.

The fan — John Small — filed a police report on Monday morning and now we’re told cops are actively investigating the situation as a possible Class A misdemeanor assault.

Small insists he did NOTHING WRONG and is asking other fans to come forward with video if they have it.

A YouTube video of the incident describes Small as being removed for “holding up a sign,” but the TMZ report indicates that security was called because Small was being “disruptive.”

Rumors Suggest That The iPhone 7 May Make Your Headphones Obsolete

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 9: Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller speaks on the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus during a Special Event at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium September 9, 2015 in San Francisco, California. Apple Inc. is expected to unveil latest iterations of its smart phone, forecasted to be the 6S and 6S Plus. The tech giant is also rumored to be planning to announce an update to its Apple TV set-top box. (Photo by Stephen Lam/ Getty Images)

Japanese blog Mac Otakara accurately predicted the changes Apple was going to make with the iPhone 6, and now they have even more to say about the iPhone 7.

In order to make the next iPhone even slimmer than previous models, Apple is supposedly getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack. That means in order to use a wired set of headphones or your old Earpods, you’ll have to get an adapter to plug them into the iPhone’s lightning port. (You would reportedly get all new lightning port Earpods with purchase, however.)

Being that this is still rumor, as no one knows anything for sure about the iPhone until Apple unveils it next year, you may not even get an adapter. You may have to buy an all new pair of Apple-approved headphones in order to use them with your new device. Last year, it was reported that companies like JBL and Philips developed lightning-cable headsets with Apple’s permission. Any pair of headphones that use the lightning port, which is digital, would have to have a digital-to-analog converter built in.

So, the upside here would be you’d potentially have clearer (digital) music — albeit through the more expensive, higher-end headphones. Headsets specifically developed to operate with Apple’s system could have the benefit of a design that works directly with apps like iTunes Radio.

Some downsides are that lightning-port headphones would draw power from the iPhone’s battery, especially if they’re the more expensive noise-cancelling sort (though they usually use their own batteries). It could possibly work the other way, with the headphones charging the phone with a passthrough or phone dock.

The removal of a standard headphone jack could make the iPhone 7 up to a millimeter slimmer than the iPhone 6. If that’s the sort of thing that appeals to you over better battery life and the ability to charge your phone while listening to music or making a call, then this rumor might be exciting to you. And of course if you have Bluetooth headphones, only having one port for everything may not be a big deal.

A Georgia Tech Recruit Decommitted After His Family Was Allegedly Harassed By Campus Police

The Georgia Tech football team lost a defensive struggle to in-state rival Georgia on Saturday, and an incident in the stands may have lost them a recruit, as well.

Jordan Johnson is the younger brother of Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Kaleb Johnson and a three-star recruit out of Jacksonville, Florida, and he had been committed to Tech for some time. On Sunday, he announced on Twitter that he was de-committing over a dispute with campus police involving tickets at the game.

Ive decided to decommit from Georgia Tech I had a bad experience at yesterdays game I would to say thank you to all of the faculty and staff

— KeltonJordanJohnson™ (@3rdJohnsonboy) November 29, 2015

According to Johnson, he went to the concession stand with his brother, and when he returned, he found his mother in an altercation with two campus police officers over the validity of her ticket. The school is calling the incident a “miscommunication,” and noted that Johnson’s mother was indeed sitting in the wrong seats.

The entire incident centers around the badges that recruits are given during their visits, which include their names in print. For guests, like Johnson’s mother and brother, the names are handwritten, and apparently this led the officer to believe the badges were forged. Johnson says they were eventually asked to leave the stadium.

While he has decommitted, it does seem that he’s leaving the door open for a possible return, saying, “Show me that you have acknowledged the problem and tried to put in the effort to fix it, and I will be satisfied.” On Twitter, he mentioned that he was weighing his options.

@jondavisfreeman just weighing my options again.

— KeltonJordanJohnson™ (@3rdJohnsonboy) November 29, 2015

He also tweeted that he still loves the school, but he would like the issue to be fixed.

I did and I still do, this problem needs to be solved though. https://t.co/0jb4Jp3UWC

A Man Beat Up His Roommate Because He Said LeBron James Is Better Than Michael Jordan

4-20-2015 11-36-46 AM

Arguments about the NBA G.O.A.T. generally get pretty heated. While most people are firmly in the Michael Jordan camp, there are those who tend to lean in other directions. Yes, basketball did exist before Jordan took over in the ’90s.

At State College over the weekend, things got ugly when one man told another that he thought LeBron James was better than His Airness. That led to a fight, a pretty nasty one that resulted in felony assault charges.

According to police, 22-year-old Daniel Mondelice also made “terroristic threats” against his roommate. He seems like a totally reasonable person.

Mondelice was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and simple assault, police said. Police told Mondelice that he was not to return to his apartment after his arraignment, except briefly with a police escort to gather his things, police said.

Mondelice is due in court on Wednesday. Let’s hope for his sake the judge isn’t a Wilt Chamberlain fan.

The Nike SB Dunk Low “Tokyo” is Returning..Not Really

Screen Shot 2015-04-20 at 1.27.07 PM

Strikingly similar to the limited edition Nike SB Dunk Low “Tokyo” that first released in 2004, this upcoming 2015 variation sports a similar build, although not quite entirely.

While the previously aforementioned Dunk Low was constructed of an Off-White canvas material, this upcoming iteration of the SB Dunk Low however flaunts a smoother and soft suede or fleece composition in All-White. Additionally a graphic pattern has been added to the liner of this new version as well, which was obviously absent from the original SB Dunk Low “Tokyo.”

Rounded out with a White rubber midsole unit that’s adhered to a gum outsole, (the very same layout for the first Nike SB Dunk Low “Tokyo”), expect a release date of this upcoming sneaker to arrive soon. Stay tuned in to KicksOnFire as the story develops.

  Author’s Take

I’ll always be a fan of the SB’s but lately, I haven’t worn the style much. Too many runners in my lineup. Anyway if you’ve always wanted an All-White Dunk SB with a gum bottom, this should be an easy purchase.

The original SB Dunk Low “Tokyo” was only limited to 202 pairs so keep that in mind if you decide to cop this particular pair.

This Kobe 9 Gives The Name “Black Mamba” a Whole New Meaning

Nike Kobe 9 High EXT Snakeskin 1

We were just hit with two new colorways of the Nike Kobe 9 Elite last week that came directly out of left field. And while the “Victory” and “Brave Blue” colorways are sure a sight for sore eyes, nothing can prepare you for what we have for you today. This Kobe 9 takes the name “Black Mamba” to a whole new level.

This EXT edition of the Kobe 9 Elite sports a snakeskin textured leather upper instead of the traditional Flyknit that we are used to seeing on all of the Kobe 9 Highs. The look and texture of the snakeskin upper looks like it was taken straight off of an actual black mamba and stitched onto the upper, that’s how dope it is. The snake texture on the upper has been done up in shades of gold while hits of black on the midsole, Swoosh, laces, tongue and heel serve as the perfect contrast. Down below we can see the the shoe is finished off with a translucent gum outsole.

There is no release date yet for these venomous Kobes yet, but stay tuned with us here at Kicks on Fire for the latest news and release dates.

Nike Will Be Popping The “Cork” To Celebrate The 25th Anniversary Of The Nike Air Max 90 In 2015

Nike Air Max 90 Cork 1

Nike will be popping the cork to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Air Max 90 next year. Here we get a look at the anniversary edition of the model, which brings together “cork”  material on the upper, black accents and the popular Infrared colorway.

We all know that cork isn’t the most ideal material to place on a sneaker since it would deteriorate with moisture from your foot or constant bending with every step that we take. It will be interesting to see what Nike has in store for the upcoming Air Max 90, will they develop a more practical application by the time these hit stores? Maybe it will just be a “print” instead of actual cork material. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Nike comes up with. There is currently no release date, but rumors have these dropping early 2015.
